£90M BRUNO FERNANDES TRANSFER FROM MANCHESTER UNITED TO REAL MADRID DEEMED ‘IMPOSSIBLE’ DUE TO AGE CONCERNS

£90M BRUNO FERNANDES TRANSFER FROM MANCHESTER UNITED TO REAL MADRID DEEMED ‘IMPOSSIBLE’ DUE TO AGE CONCERNS

Rumors of a potential £90 million ($116m) transfer of Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United to Real Madrid have been circulating, but the deal is now being considered “impossible” due to the Portuguese playmaker’s age. At 30 years old, Fernandes is still in his prime, but Real Madrid’s reluctance to spend big on older players may scupper any potential move.

Fernandes has been a talismanic presence at Old Trafford, taking on leadership duties as club captain, but Manchester United’s ongoing struggles for consistency have raised questions about his future. With a contract until 2027, Fernandes may be tempted to explore other options, especially if the Red Devils fail to show significant improvement.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are reportedly mulling over their options as they prepare for the imminent departure of Luka Modric. The 39-year-old Croatian’s contract is set to expire in the summer, and Los Blancos may be in the market for a creative midfielder to fill the void. However, journalist Paco Gonzalez believes that Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, is unlikely to sanction a big-money move for Fernandes due to his age.

Gonzalez told Cadena COPE: “Today they published in England that Real Madrid wants Bruno Fernandes and has made an offer of £90m. He’s 30 years old, he’s very good. Maybe many teams ask for a pass to watch a game, but maybe it’s a scout that Real Madrid has for England or a man going to see someone else. But for a 30-year-old guy, Madrid paying 90 million, knowing the calculations Florentino Perez has in his head, that signings have to be paid off and they have to be young, seems impossible to me.”

Manchester United would likely demand a significant fee for Fernandes if any sale were to be sanctioned, given his value to the team. This may price Real Madrid out of a move, forcing Fernandes to consider other options or stay put at Old Trafford. As the summer transfer window approaches, Fernandes’ future remains uncertain, with a move to Real Madrid looking increasingly unlikely.

The situation highlights the challenges faced by top clubs in the transfer market. With Financial Fair Play regulations and the need to balance the books, clubs must carefully consider their transfer strategy. Real Madrid’s reluctance to spend big on older players may be a prudent approach, but it may also mean missing out on top talent like Fernandes.

As the transfer saga continues to unfold, Fernandes will be focused on helping Manchester United finish the season strongly. With a top-four finish still a possibility, the Red Devils will be relying on their star playmaker to deliver the goods. Whether Fernandes will still be at Old Trafford next season remains to be seen, but for now, he remains a crucial part of Manchester United’s plans.
