An eight-year-old boy has died after falling into a manhole at the Buduburam Refugee Camp in the Central Region of Ghana.
Africa Publicity understands that the boy drown in the manhole at Blue Rose Estate in Buduburam, a refugee camp once mostly inhabited by Liberians during the 14-year civil war in Liberia.
The boy has been identified as Elijah Success Kaba. His 15-year-old cousin named Andrew Jallo, is said to be critical condition after also falling into the manhole.

The two boys were said to be fetching water from the manhole.
Officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were called to area and went in to rescue the boys. The officers took Elijah and his cousin to the St. Gregory Catholic Hospital but Elijah died while receiving treatment.

The Buduburam Fire Station Officer, DO II Samuel Derry Moro, told the media that “We received a call while at the station about two children who had fallen. Within 10 minutes, we were on the scene. We rescued the 15-year-old, but despite our best efforts, we could not save the eight-year-old. We involved town elders to assist with the proper rites before continuing our rescue efforts.”
