66th Grammys: Burna Boy shines with four nominations in third consecutive appearance

Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy has further cemented his global prominence by earning four Grammy nominations, topping all African artists. It is the third year in a row that Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, has received recognition from the Grammys.

The nominations were announced on Friday, November 10 for the 2024 awards. Burna Boy was nominated in the Melodic Rap Performance category for his hit collaboration “Sittin’ on Top of the World” featuring 21 Savage. He also earned nods for “Alone” in Global Music Performance and “City Boys” in African Music Performance.

Burna Boy’s highly acclaimed sixth studio album ” Told Them” is up for Best Global Music Album. With four total nominations this year, the renowned artist from Port Harcourt, Nigeria has shown stunning consistency at the Grammys. In the 2021 awards, Burna Boy won the Best Global Music Album award for his album ‘Twice as Tall, a first for a Nigerian as a solo artist.

The 2024 GRAMMYS, which is the 66th GRAMMY Awards, will air live on Sunday, Feb. 4 from 8-11:30 p.m. ET/5-8:30 p.m. PT from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
