At least 48 passengers including five children after a passenger plane transporting them crashed in Russia’s far eastern Amur region.
The local governor of the Amur region, Vasily Orlov, reportedly said there were no survivors.
According to the Russian news agency Interfax, the plane’s wreckage was found around nine miles from its intended destination in the town of Tynda.
The plane had reportedly traveled from the regional area of Blagoveshchensk some 300 miles away.
Governor Orlov noted in a post on Telegram that the An-24 aircraft vanished from radar close to Tynda.
He says emergency services later found the wreckage in nearby woods, adding “I regret to inform you that there no survivors.
He said “rescuers have reached the crash site,” declaring three days of mourning.
A spokesperson for Russia’s federal aviation agency, Rosaviatsiya, Artem Korenyako, wrote on Telegram that a search and rescue helicopter “discovered a burning fuselage.”
