Three bodies were recovered in the New England Ville community on the morning of Thursday, July 24, 2024, following a fence collapse caused by heavy overnight rainfall in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone.

According to reports, four individuals were swept away after floodwaters from the collapsed fence inundated their home. Three have been confirmed dead, while the search continues for the fourth person, with local youth assisting in the effort.

Freetown faced yet another disaster as relentless rains—lasting three to four hours—caused widespread destruction across several communities, resulting in loss of lives and property.

Flooding has become a recurring problem in the city, driven by multiple factors, including poor drainage infrastructure and the frequent dumping of waste into waterways by residents.
