Two minor girls of Sub-Saharan origin said to be under 16 were reportedly raped by men on an African migrant boat which was headed for Europe.
According to multiple local Spanish media reports, Spain’s Maritime Rescue intercepted a total of 29 migrants on Friday afternoon, September 19, 2025.
Reports say all of the migrants were of Sub-Saharan origin and were traveling to Europe.
Their boat was reportedly detected about 43 miles south of Formentera.
Reports say the girls told Spanish authorities upon their arrival in Ibiza on Friday on a boat that they both were raped by two men they were traveling with.
According to reports, police said the two girls are minors, therefore under the age of 16.
They are reported to have been taken to the Can Misses Hospital in Ibiza for treatment.
Their statements were reportedly taken by Spanish authorities on Saturday.
Meanwhile, reports say so far in 2025, a total of 126 boats with 2,094 migrants have arrived in Ibiza and Formentera. Of these, 108 boats and 1,829 people arrived in Formentera, while the rest, 18 boats and 265 migrants, arrived in Ibiza in these almost nine months of 2025.
