Two Ghanaian men have been jailed 15 years for robbery and they both are also awaiting sentencing for rape, having been arrested for robbing and allegedly raping a 19-year-old hairdresser.
According to the Tema police command, it secured conviction for the two accused persons involved in the rape and robbery incident.
The command in a statement dated Wednesday, October 7, 2025, and signed by its head of public affairs, ASP Dede Dzakpasu, said the rape and robbery incident happened on September 27, 2025 at Okushibli, along the Apollonia-Afienya road in the Greater Accra Region.
Police identified the two accused men as Nicholas Tetteh and Joseph Tetteh.
According to the statement, “investigations revealed that the victim, a 19-year-old hairdresser, hired a motor rider, Nicholas Tetteh, to take her to Afienya.”
It says on the way to Afienya, “the suspect conspired with two others, including Joseph Tetteh, to attack her.”
The statement further narrated that “The victim was dragged into a nearby bush, where she was sexually assaulted by two of the suspects. They also took her iPhone XR and handbag containing Ghc 150.”
It says the case reported to the Zenu-Atadeka District Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), where a statement was taken and a medical report form was issued to her for examination and treatment.
It added that “The suspects were later arrested and charged with robbery and rape.”
According to the statement, “The two accused persons, Nicholas Tetteh and Joseph Tetteh, were arraigned before the Gbetsile Circuit Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Eleanor Kakra Barns Botchway. They pleaded guilty to the robbery charge and were each sentenced to fifteen (15) years imprisonment with in hard labour.”
It added that “They will also be arraigned before the court for the rape charge when advice is received from the Attorney-General’s office”.
