The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group has announced its commitment to supporting the African Union Peace Fund with a $500,000 donation. This pledge underscores the bank’s recognition of peace and security as the foundation for Africa’s economic growth and development.

During a recent visit to Ethiopia, UBA Group Chairman, Tony O. Elumelu, emphasized the crucial role of the AU Peace Fund in conflict resolution, mediation, and securing a stable future for Africa. The bank’s support goes beyond banking, as it invests in the future of Africa, ensuring businesses, communities, and nations thrive.

As UBA Group noted, economic growth and security are inextricably linked. Creating an environment where entrepreneurs can flourish, investments can thrive, and youth can dream big is essential. Peace is not just a goal; it’s a necessity.

The African Union Peace Fund has made significant progress in recent years, with contributions from member states and private sector partners. The fund has exceeded its initial goal of $400 million, with contributions from organizations like the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and private companies.

UBA Group’s commitment to the AU Peace Fund is part of its broader mission to uplift lives, empower businesses, and drive sustainable development. The bank’s $14 million COVID-19 response is another example of its dedication to Africa’s progress.

As UBA Group stands with the African Union on this journey, it emphasizes that every individual, business, and organization must play their part in promoting peace and security. Development will come with peace, and collective efforts are necessary to achieve this goal.
