The Person I Could Have Done Forever With Is Gone – Bimbo Akintola Opens Up on Single Life

Nollywood star Bimbo Akintola has spoken candidly about why she remains single at the age of 54, revealing the deep impact of losing her soulmate.

In an interview with fellow actor Emmanuel Ehumadu, also known as Labista, Akintola shared that the loss of her ideal partner has made it difficult for her to consider marriage again.

When asked if she was married, Akintola responded, “No.” She went on to explain that the person she had envisioned spending her life with is no longer alive. “The person I could have done forever with is gone,” she said, reflecting on how long it had taken her to find such a connection.

Despite societal expectations, Akintola is firm in her stance not to let pressure influence her decisions about marriage. She acknowledged that while she values the idea of marriage, she hasn’t found anyone who could match the bond she once shared with her soulmate. Her past experiences, including moments of heartbreak, have shaped her cautious approach to commitment.

“I don’t believe that you get married for marriage’s sake. If you are not going to be truthful to your vows, then why are you doing it? The person wey me fit do forever for don die. He’s gone. I am not saying that you can’t have two or three loves in your lifetime but do you know how long it took me to find that one that I knew I could stay with.”

“I am also too old to understand red flags when I see it and I think I am too old to manage and say I am doing something just to make other people happy. Who are those people? To make the world happy, I should marry someone so that the world can say you don do am.

“It doesn’t make sense, I don’t care, I really don’t care. No, I won’t do that for anybody. I am always truthful to myself because at the end of the day if someone dies,when you stand in front of God, na you and God, one on one you go answer the question, nobody go answer the question for you. So, I am living my life in all truthfulness, being truthful to myself,” she explained.

The renowned thespian also expressed her reservations about the state of modern marriages, where she feels partners often fail to maintain their vows. She emphasized that unless both people are equally committed to making marriage work, she isn’t interested in pursuing it.
