The President of Malawi, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, has appointed a renowned comedian, Dr. Michael Bizwick Usi, as Vice President of Malawi.
At 3pm on Friday, June 21, 2024, Dr. Usi, one of Malawi’s most popular comedians will be sworn in as the country’s next Vice President, the Presidency announced in a statement.
Dr. Usi appointment became necessary following the tragic death of Vice President, Saulos Klaus Chilima, in a plane crash together with nine others on June 10, 2024
The comedian cum new Vice President is well-known across Malawi for his roles in a television series called ‘Tikuferanji’ or ‘why are we dying’.
