Emerging Nigerian artiste Vov CL has shed light on the inspiration behind his latest single, ‘No Days Off.’
The Abuja-based musician explained how his journey shaped the music he creates, noting that his own life experiences and observations of social inequalities served as the foundation for the song.
“Life in general—the daily grind, seeing the stark divide between the rich and the poor—it really opened my eyes and inspired No Days Off,” he said. “I wanted to create something that everyone could relate to, whether you’re hustling daily or reflecting on the world around you,” he said in a recent chat.
For Vov CL, music has been more than just a passion; it’s a calling he’s nurtured long before his university days. “I’ve been making music since before I even entered university. Music has always been a dream of mine, and the idea of seeing people connect with my sound is something I hold close to my heart,” he shared.
With a degree in political science, Vov CL could have pursued a different career path, but his love for music was unwavering. “Studying political science taught me a lot about society and power structures, which I bring into my music,” he explained. “I’ve always known I wanted to do this. Music is my way of expressing what I see, what I feel, and I believe it has the power to bridge the gap between people’s realities.”
