Aisha Wahab, the young woman who was kidnapped in Edo State last week, has successfully regained her freedom. Her release came after her family reportedly paid the full ₦20 million ransom demanded by her captors.
The news of her release on Saturday was confirmed through multiple social media posts, notably by activist Harrison Gwamnishu and Davido’s logistics manager, Israel DMW.

Details of the Abduction and Ransom
Wahab was abducted while traveling to Igbira Camp in Auchi by suspected armed kidnappers. The incident quickly gained national attention earlier this week when her captors released a video showing her pleading for her life and demanding the ransom, threatening to kill her if the ₦20 million was not paid by a 5 p.m. Tuesday deadline.
On Saturday, Gwamnishu confirmed the victim’s release, stating that the full amount had been transferred to secure her safe return.
“Aishatu has just been released by her captors after paying the complete ₦20 million. No kobo was deducted,” the message read.
Family sources also confirmed that the payment was made in full before her release. The incident underscores the severe security challenges and the increasing prevalence of kidnapping for ransom in parts of Nigeria.
