Gyakie Unveils Deeply Personal Inspiration Behind Debut Album After Midnight

Ghanaian singer Gyakie has finally opened up about the inspiration behind her highly anticipated debut album, After Midnight, revealing the profound personal and creative influences that shaped the project.

According to the songstress, the album’s title is a reflection of her creative process, as most of the songs were recorded during the quiet hours after midnight. “The peace & quiet, the sounds from the birds, the serenity—everything from those hours help my creativity a lot,” she shared, emphasizing how the stillness of the night enhances her artistry.

Beyond creativity, Gyakie also revealed that her emotional experiences during those late hours played a significant role in shaping the album’s tone. “I’ve done a lot of crying after midnight too. When I’m in my down moments, I schedule the tears for when I get home from work, then let it all out,” she confessed, giving fans a deeply personal glimpse into her emotional world.

Her connection to late-night introspection goes back to childhood, as she fondly recalled how her mother’s midnight prayers left a lasting impact on her. “Growing up, my mother would always pray for us after midnight when we were deeply asleep. It was a consistent routine & she still does it whenever we’re together,” she revealed.

With After Midnight, Gyakie offers more than just music—she presents a heartfelt journey into the emotions, memories, and solitude that fuel her artistry. Fans eagerly await the release, expecting an album that not only showcases her musical talent but also tells a deeply personal story.
