Gravita India Limited, a leading global recycling company, has launched an aluminium recycling plant in Ghana, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion plans. The plant, operated by Recyclers Ghana Limited, a step-down subsidiary of Gravita India, has an initial annual recycling capacity of 4,000 metric tonnes, with plans to expand to 8,000 metric tonnes in future phases .
The plant will process domestic aluminium scrap to produce recycled aluminium alloys, which will cater to the needs of the automotive and die-casting industries in Europe and Asia. This initiative aligns with Gravita’s strategy to replicate its recycling operations globally, further strengthening its international presence .
Gravita India has invested approximately INR 6.75 crore in the facility, financed through internal accruals. The company’s shares surged 3% following the announcement, reflecting investor confidence in the project’s potential .
This development is expected to have a positive impact on Ghana’s economy, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth. Gravita India’s expansion into Ghana also underscores the country’s growing importance as a hub for recycling and manufacturing in West Africa .
