Gravita India Limited, a leading global recycling company, has launched a new aluminium recycling plant in Ghana, marking a significant expansion of its operations in Africa.
The state-of-the-art facility, operated by Recyclers Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Gravita, has commenced commercial production of recycled aluminium alloys. With an initial annual capacity of 4,000 MTPA, the plant is expected to double its capacity to 8,000 MTPA in subsequent phases.
Gravita has invested approximately $800,000 in the Ghana facility, which will source domestic aluminium scrap for production. The plant will primarily cater to the automotive and die-casting industries in Europe and Asia, bolstering Gravita’s aluminium business segment.
This development is part of Gravita’s strategic plan to replicate its recycling operations globally, strengthening its presence in international markets. The company’s aluminium recycling operations now span across Senegal, Mozambique, Tanzania, Togo, India, and Ghana.
With 12 eco-conscious manufacturing facilities worldwide, Gravita has established itself as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing. The company’s presence in over 70 countries and its three decades of recycling expertise underscore its commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
Gravita’s expansion into Ghana is expected to contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth and sustainable development, while also reinforcing the company’s position as a pioneer in the global recycling industry.
