EASE Ghana, a subsidiary of EASE Holdings BV, which specializes in quality equipment as a service, has commissioned the first MRI scanner in Ghana’s Eastern Region, at St. Dominic Catholic Hospital (SDCH), Akwatia.
The inauguration marked the debut of Siemens Magnetom Free.Star Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner technology in Ghana. The MRI scanner utilizes Siemens’ latest low-helium scanner technology, enabling greater energy savings while maintaining high-quality imaging.
The EASE model allows institutions to avoid upfront capital costs, allowing the hospital to utilize cash flows generated from scans to cover the cost of the service, which not only includes using the scanner, but also first-class support, training and servicing of the equipment.

Vice President for EASE Healthcare and Managing Director, EASE Ghana Dr. Kanyinsola Oyeyinka explained EASE’s distinctive pay-per-scan equipment-as-a-service model that provides businesses and organizations with cost-effective access to state-of-the-art equipment including maintenance, training and support – with terms that match their circumstances and business needs.
“As healthcare needs across the globe become more complex, MRI Scanners are increasingly an important tool for accurate diagnosis and disease management, given the very high cost associated with acquiring these machines and there is a very significant population in many parts of Ghana and Africa. Equipment as a service which EASE offers allows healthcare facilities to procure high value equipments they are accessible thereby increasing the quality of care that can be given to the patients”, she said.
Most Reverend Joseph Afrifah – Agyekum, the Catholic Bishop of Koforidua at the St. Dominic Catholic Hospital expressed heartfelt gratitude to EASE Ghana for their unwavering commitment and support to bring the first MRI Technology to make taking care of patients easier.
These advancements are not just milestones, they represent hope and progress allowing the accurate prognosis and bringing the much needed relief to the many patients we serve. This remarkable progress in respect of MRI Technology would not have been possible without the tireless dedication and collaboration of the management team of this hospital.
