Some 10 Hindu pilgrims have been killed and 33 others injured following an attack by militants on a bus that was transporting them.
Local media reports cited police as saying the attack took place in the Indian federal territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian police reportedly indicated that the driver of the pilgrims lost control after the bus was fired at by the militants.
After the driver lost control,
the bus plunged into a gorge in Reasi district of Jammu, police said.
Reports say rescue operations have concluded and a search operation by the Indian army and police is under way to track down the attackers.
Jammu and Kashmir region’s top administrator, Manoj Sinha, wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “All those behind this heinous act will be punished soon.”
