Vice President Jessica Alupo has represented President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the funeral ceremony of Tamale Joseph Mirundi in Kalisizo, Kyotera district of Uganda.
In a speech read on behalf of the President, VP Alupo expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the entire nation, describing Tamale Mirundi as a “social philosopher and media guru”.
“Tamale Mirundi had become a household name due to his courageous and truthful commentary on current affairs,” the President’s speech said. “He was a self-styled and independent-minded public intellectual who garnered a significant following on social media and in mainstream media.”
The President noted that Tamale Mirundi was a dedicated cadre of the NRM Party, articulating the party’s four principles ideology: Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-economic transformation, and Democracy.
“I commiserate with the children and the entire family of the late Tamale Mirundi,” the President said.
“In this hour of grief, I want you to know that the NRM is a big clan. We shall stand with you in the absence of your family head and breadwinner.”
The President urged the children to take inspiration from their father’s great legacy, emphasizing that Tamale Mirundi departed after a distinguished service to his motherland.
“May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace,” the President concluded.
