A notorious gang has reportedly killed several police officers at a police station in Haiti.
Reports say the gang stormed the police station and slaughtered 20 officers.
According to reports, members of the gang led by the infamous warlord Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier attacked a police station in Gressier, Port-au-Prince, and killed at least 20 officers.
The assault is believed to have begun on Sunday, June 30.
Haiti Libre said the attack was carried out by members of the “Vivre Ensemble” gang coalition led by “Barbecue”. Other reports stated that the Bougoy Gang were involved.
As far as the assault on the police station is concered, reports stated that a “musculat counter-offensive” from police saw several gang members killed.
Haiti Libre stated that Bougoy leader Ti Bébé Bougoy, who had boasted the day before the attack of being stronger than the police forces, was captured.
It had been reported that the bandits were using “heavy machinery” to destroy the police station. This has reportedly been seized by authorities.
In June 2022 it was reported that the gang had been rounding up homeless and at-risk teens, to use as foot soldiers in gang wars
